Aortic Valve Disease

Aortic Valve Disease

This condition occur due to malfunctioning of valve between left ventricle and aorta. It can be congenital present at birth or may be acquired. The condition is of two types either aortic valve stenosis or aortic valve regurgitation.

  • Aortic valve stenosis is the type of aortic valve disease in which there is narrowing of the aortic valve because of thickening of cusps of valve which makes it unable to open properly. This will impede the blood flow from heart to the body.
  • Aortic valve regurgitation is the type of aortic valve disease in which there is backward flow of blood into the left ventricle because the valves are unable to close.
