Cancer that arises in any bone of the body. Bone cancer is not defined as metastasizing cancer which arises from the different sites of the body to the bone like breast cancer and lung cancer mostly spread to the bones. Bone cancer primarily arises in the bones and affect any bone of the body.

Symptoms

  • Fatigue
  • Bone pain
  • Swelling
  • Tenderness
  • Weight loss
  • Microfracture
Causes

The exact causes of cancers are not known. But many environmental and genetic factors play their role in the development of cancer like mutations and radiation exposures increase the risk of cancer.

Diagnosis

After taking history and conducting a physical examination your doctor may recommend the following tests to confirm the diagnosis:

  • X-ray to check the extent of disease
  • Bone scan
  • MRI to see the condition of bones
  • Blood test to check the complete blood count
Treatment

Treatment depend upon the stage of cancer and type of cancer. Some cancer respond to chemotherapy and some required surgery, Option will be decided after confirmation of diagnosis. Some types of cancer also respond to radiation therapy but they increase the risk of more mutation which will exaggerate the condition.
