Strong pain relievers also help in reducing pain and swelling but it is only taken with the doctor’s prescription.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy can implement specific exercises for wrist injuries and bone problems. If surgery needed, the physical therapist will refer and help with rehabilitation after the procedure.

If you have broken bone in the wrist, the pieces are needed to be aligned in their place for healing. A cast helps in holding the bone fragments together while the pieces of bone heal.

If you have sprain in the wrist, you might need to wear a splint to protect the injured bone and ligaments while it heals properly. Splints are very effective and helpful with injuries caused by repetitive stress and motions.

Surgery

In severe cases, surgery is necessary. Sometimes the wound is healed by one surgery and sometimes by 2 or 3. It is effective if the surgery is done at the right time. Some severe cases include:

  • Bone fractures. Surgery is needed to stabilize the bone.
  • In carpal tunnel syndrome. Surgery is needed to relieve the pressure.
  • Surgery is needed when a ligament or tendon is ruptured.
