It is defined as the disease which is caused by the parasite which is present in the female mosquitoes’ human got infected when mosquitoes infected with this parasite bite them. It is common disease in tropical and subtropical region of world and uncommon in temperate climate.
Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of malaria included:
- Headache
- Fever
- Chills
- Nausea
- Muscle pain
- Malaise
- Vomiting
- Sweating
- Abdominal pain
Causes
It is caused by the biting of mosquito which are infected with this parasite.
Complications
Now a day’s complications are rare because highly effective drugs of malaria are present in market. But if left untreated it may cause the following complications:
- Breathing problems
- Anemia
- Organ failure
- Cerebral malaria if infected with falciparum malaria
- Hypoglycemia
Diagnosis
Malaria is easily diagnosis by detailed medical history but for confirmation your doctor might recommend the blood test to check the presence of parasite in the blood.
Treatment
Following drugs are used to treat malaria.
- Chloroquine phosphate
- Primaquine phosphate
- Artemisinin like artesunate and amodiaquine
- Quinin sulfate
