MCAD Deficiency

It is defining as the hereditary condition in which there is lack of enzyme called Medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (MCAD) deficiency which is necessary to break down fats in your body and convert them into energy due to lack of this enzyme you are at risk of hypoglycemia due to low blood sugar level.

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms include:

  • Low blood sugar
  • Vomiting
  • Lack of energy
  • Diarrhea
  • Increase exercise

  • Fever
Causes

It is the hereditary disorder which is transmitted in children by parents. The cause of enzyme deficiency is the mutation in the gene which is required for the synthesis of this enzyme.
