It Is defined as the cancer in the layer of tissue which cover the internal organs of your body. This layer is called mesothelium and its cancer mesothelioma. It is an aggressive type of cancer and usually life threating.It occurs due to inhaled asbestos fibers.
Symptoms
Signs and symptoms depend upon the location of cancer generally symptoms include:
- Breathing difficulty
- Nausea, Fever, Night sweats
- Abdominal pain
- Chest pain
- Abdominal swelling
- Unintentional weight loss
- Weakness in muscles, fatigue, fluid around lungs
Causes
Asbestos inhalation at home or work,It occurres when mutation causes changing in the cell’s machinery which is called DNA. Then growth of cell starts in un-control fashion and make large number of abnormal cells which disturb the whole organ.Working in mines, heavy industry or living in industrial area.It is more among men than women.

- Lung Mesothelioma (Pleural Type)
- Abdominal Mesothelioma (Peritoneal)
- Heart Mesothelioma (Pericardial)
- Testicular Mesothelioma (Testes)
- Epithelioid Cells & Sarcomatoid Cells type.
Complications
Complications include:
- Breathing difficulty
- Chest pain
- Pain occur due to nerve compression
- Pleural effusion
- Ascites
- Abdominal pain
- Death
Diagnosis
Your doctor might recommend the following tests:
- Blood test to rule out any other causes of inflammation.
- Physical examination to check the condition of abdomen and chest.
- Biopsy to check the type and stage of cancer.
- CT scan and MRI for detail images.
Treatment
Treatment options include:
- Surgery to remove the tumor or cancerous cells to prevent the metastasize.
- Immunotherapy to strong the immune system to fight with cancer
- Chemotherapy, Radiation therapy
