Neuroblastoma

It is the cancer of immature nerve cells which are present throughout the body. Most common site of neuroblastoma is around the adrenal’s glands which are located above the kidneys. Adrenal gland originates from the same origin as the nerve cells.

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms include:Adrenal Cancer, Berger's Disease, IgA Nephropathy

  • Tenderness
  • Abdominal pain
  • Cyst like mass in abdomen
  • Chest pain
  • Bowel habits disturb
  • Drooping of eyelids
  • Lump under the skin
  • Fever
  • Back pain
Causes

The exact mechanism of this condition is not known yet. Inflammation turn into cancer when continuous repairment of cells induce mutations in the DNA of the cells of breast which initiate the cancer development.

Complications

Below mention are the complications of neuroblastoma:

  • Spinal nerve compression which causes pain and paralysis.
  • Signs and symptoms due to the secretion from the tumor cells.
  • Spread of cancerous cells to the other part of the body.
Diagnosis

Diagnostic tests include:

  • Imaging test to check the mass or tumor growth.
  • Urinary analysis.
  • Blood test to check the complete blood count.
  • Physical examination to check the signs and symptoms of disease.
  • Biopsy of involved tissue to check the stage and type of cancer.
Treatment

Treatment options include:

  • Surgery to remove the tumor or cancerous cells to prevent the metastasize.
  • Radiotherapy to kill the cancerous mass by radiations.
  • Chemotherapy to kill the offending cells by drugs.
  • Bone marrow transplant
