Parvovirus Infection

It is defined as the viral infection which is cause parvovirus it is also known as slapped cheek disease because of characteristic face rash. It is also called fifth disease which it was fifth in list of childhood illness which cause skin rash.

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms include:

  • Runny nose
  • Fever
  • Upset stomach
  • Headache
  • Skin rash
Causes

This infection is cause by parvovirus B19. Infection spread through blood, if pregnant woman got infection then she will be transmitted to the child also.

Diagnosis

This will be diagnosis through detailed medical history and physical examination. To confirm the diagnosis your doctor might recommend the blood test to detect the antibody against parvovirus.

Treatment

Self-care treatment is the first line treatment for viral infection. Take acetaminophen for fever. If anemia is severe then hospitalized the patient.
