Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia

It is a cancer of blood cells and bone marrow, the spongy portion of bone which contribute in the blood cell formation. In acute lymphocytic leukemia there is a problem in white blood cells. The meaning of acute in the name of this cancer is that they progress rapidly and formed immature blood cells more rapidly rather than chronically.

Symptoms

  • Shortness of breath
  • Bone pain
  • Weakness, fatigue(malaise)
  • Bleeding from the gums
  • Frequent infections
  • Lumps caused by swollen lymph nodes

Causes

Its causes included mutation in DNA of bone marrow cells due to which faulty cells will produce and replace the normal bone marrow therefore normal blood cell supply will reduce then signs and symptoms will be appeared in a person.

The exact cause of mutation is not known.

Diagnosis

Following tests are required to diagnosed acute lymphocytic leukemia:

  • Blood tests
  • Imaging tests
  • Spinal fluid test

Treatment

Treatment will take place in different phases which included:

  • Maintenance therapy
  • Preventive treatment to the spinal cord
  • Induction therapy
  • Consolidation therapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Targeted therapy
  • Radiation therapy
  • Bone marrow transplant

Home remedies
