It is defined as the allergic reaction which is caused by direct contact with certain things or substances. It is common condition which is not serious but might be uncomfortable situation.

It is cause by some certain things or substances which causes allergic reaction by direct contacting them, common substance which cause reactions include:

  • Detergent
Diagnosis

Your doctor diagnosis this condition by taking history and by seeing the affected skin and examine the skin for tenderness. He might recommend a patch test for certain substance to check the allergic reaction after applying them and rule out the cause of allergy.

Treatment

Mild cases do not required treatment they heal on its own but some severe cases required medications which include:

  • Oral medications to reduce the inflammation like corticosteroids
  • Anti-histamine to reduce the itching
  • Steroid ointments for topical use
