Hammertoe and Mallet toe
It is defined as the condition in which there is deformity occur due to the imbalance between the muscles, tendons and ligaments which are used to hold the toe straight. It is the abnormal bend in the middle joint of a toe.
Following are the causes of hammertoe and mallet toe:
- Abnormal muscles balance
- Trauma or injury
- Wearing high heeled shoes or footwear
Complications are rare but it may cause the painful corns and calluses due to the rubbing against the high portion of the toes each other.
It can be diagnosis at clinically by seeing your foot by your doctor, he/she might recommend the x-ray to check the further damage to the bones and joints of the foot.
In this condition flexible and roomier shoes might be helpful. Orthotics pads also reduce pain and pressure. Conservative treatment does not helpful much, only surgical process resolve this condition permanently.
