It is define as the condition in which there is decrease production of male hormone due to which there is lack of masculine growth pattern and delay in puberty and reduce sperm count. It occur congenitally or developed after birth later in life due to any infection and injury.

Causes

Generally there are two causes of hypogonadism primary and secondary, in primary there is testicles failure or defect in the origin of testicles. Secondary causes include problem in hypothalamus or in the pituitary gland function. Klinefelter  syndrome is the most common cause of hypogonadism.

Male hypogonadism is generally diagnosis at clinical setup, you doctor will diagnosis this condition after conducting physical examination and might recommend the hormone tests to check the testosterone level in your body other tests included:

  • Genetical testing

  • Semen analysis
  • Testicular biopsy
Treatment

The main treatment option of male hypogonadism is testosterone therapy which help to reduce the sign and symptoms such as testosterone increase the sexual drive increase hair growth, increase muscles mass etc. Testosterone available in different form like injections, patches and in oral form.
