This is the condition characterized by persistent sneezing or dripping, congested nose without any cause. Symptoms of non-allergic rhinitis mimic symptoms of hay fever.

Causes
Although exact cause of this condition is not known but studies shows that it occurs when blood vessels in the nose expand and as a result of which nasal lining filled with blood and fluid. Following factors trigger nonallergic:
- Environmental or occupational irritants
- Temperature or humidity changes
- Viral infection
- Certain medications
- Hormonal changes due to pregnancy, menstruation, oral contraceptive use
- Sleeping on your back, sleep apnea and acid reflux
Complications
- Nasal polyps
- Prolonged nasal congestion
- Middle ear infections
Diagnosis
Diagnosis of this condition depends upon detailed medical history and complete general physical examination of the patient. Other tests include the following:
- Skin tests
- Blood tests
- Nasal endoscopy
- Computerized tomography (CT) scan
Treatment
Treatment options include:
- Over-the-counter saline nasal sprays
- Corticosteroid nasal sprays
- Antihistamine nasal sprays
- Anti-drip anticholinergic nasal sprays
- Decongestants
