It is defined as the inflammatory condition which involved multiple systems of body most commonly in children and associated with COVID-19 virus. MIS-C appeared in children who are severely infected with COVID-19.

Symptoms

Causes

The main cause of MIS-C is not found yet, but different theories suggest that this inflammatory condition start due to the over expression of immune system which is associated with COVID-19.

Complications

If left untreated it may lead to the severe damage to the many vital organs, like heart, lungs, or kidney.

Diagnosis

After taking history your doctor might recommend the following tests:

  • PCR antibody test for COVID-19
  • Blood test for complete blood count or any abnormal protein
  • Urine test to look for inflammatory product
  • Chest X-ray
  • Ultrasound
Treatment

Treatment should do after admitting the patient in hospital. Treatment depend upon the severity of infection, treatment options include:

  • Fluids to prevent dehydration
  • Ventilator for breathing problem
  • Blood pressure medications
  • Oxygen to prevent hypoxia
  • Antibiotics to treat secondary infection
  • Steroids therapy to reduce inflammation
